The alumni of the University of Connecticut have assisted in the development of the University as an outstanding institution of higher education with their participation in the affairs of the University. The varied activities of the University's 134,000 alumni are represented in the Board of Trustees, the Alumni Association's Board of Directors, the Alumni Council, the Annual Fund, the University of Connecticut Foundation, Alumni Chapters and clubs, schools and college alumni societies, and Alumni publications.

The Alumni Association is dedicated to promoting the welfare, interest, and excellence of the University of Connecticut by fostering a mutually helpful relationship among the alumni, the faculty, and the student body of the University and by creating and maintaining a better understanding between the citizens of the State of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut.

In 1881 the brothers Charles and Augustus Storrs provided the beginnings of a university through their concerned generosity. Now, as the University they founded proceeds into its second century, a nucleus of equally concerned and generous alumni are joined as the Alumni Association to serve youth and the community of the State of Connecticut as the founders did.

As a committed partner of the University, the Association offers programs of relevance and service to alumni and creates support for the University. Underlying all the Association does is (1) a belief in the value of education to the well being of society and (2) a commitment to integrity, diversity and service.
